Planting at 101-years-old

At 101 years old, she grows aloe vera, mint and pandan plants for mental wellness! Dementia and mobility issues can't stop Madam Yap from caring for plants, a love affair for as long as her daughter and CAL staff can remember. "I've been a caregiver to my mum for almost 10 years, and COVID turned me into a plant person." Today, the potted plants in their corridor keep mother and daughter connected, even when the senior can no longer speak.

"My mother's love for plants, and her occasional "thumbs up" seeing the plants I grow motivates me!"

Thank you for supporting mental wellness and caregiving!
