As a caregiver to both son with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and mum with Dementia, Evelyn found herself burning out and unable to sustain. Through attending CAL's C2C training programme in 2015, she realised the importance of self-care and respite.
"Walkie Talkie Therapy" is a sub-campaign led by Evelyn to raise funds for caregivers of persons with mental health issues. The rhythmic movement of walking is therapeutic and can stimulate the brain and facilitates emotional processing. During communication, our inner experience is translated into words, sentences, and stories. "Feel good" conversations can give us a sense of well-being.
Through this sub-campaign, Evelyn hopes that caregivers can walk out of their homes, discover the environment around them, and practice self-care. Only with a healthy and happy caregiver can there be a healthy and happy loved one.
