Cindy & Valerie

As a single parent, Cindy needed to work and earn a living for her children. She gave up her job overseas to work from home many years ago to become a full-time caregiver for her daughter Valerie who was diagnosed with schizophrenia. After a long search for a resource to aid her daughter, she finally found CAL's C2C Training Programme where she learned all about caregiving. The recovery journey for Valerie however was an arduous one as she had a lot of bottled up feelings and that included her resentment towards Cindy for being absent when she needed her the most.

Now, the relationship between the two is stronger than ever, and both Cindy and Valerie are full-time staff at CAL, advocating for the very cause that helped mend their relationship.

To support the campaign, the mother-daughter pair will be engaging in a series of Singexercise 4 Mental Wellness.

Through Singexercise, Cindy will sing and Valerie will exercise. For every $10 donated, Cindy will sing a sentence. Likewise, Valerie will walk 100 steps or do 10 reps of gym workout exercises for every $10.
